How to Make a Crocheted Layered Flower
Are you looking for a crocheted layered flower for your next project. I’ll be honest I have always been intimidated by making layered flowers. With my recent pattern for How to Make a Crocheted Cactus Beanie I was inspired to create an easy crocheted layered flower. You can use a smaller hook to make the flower look a tighter or if you’re needing a bigger flower go up to any hook size you desire. Using this patter, I have use a G hook all the way up to a L hook size. You start in a magic circle and then work in a slip stitch around back in between 2 petals. I’ve included pictures to help.
If you want to just use a single layer flower which I have done in my How to Make a Crocheted Cactus Beanie, just use the first row of this pattern and leave a long tail for sewing onto your project.
Worsted Weight Yarn. I used Red Heart With Love in Bright Pink and Lion Bran Vanna’s Choice in Pink
Hook size depends on your yarn and project, I used H and I for this project
CH = Chain Stich
SC = Single Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
SL ST = Slip Stitch
Row 1: Using a Magic Ring, into ring CH 2, DC, DC, CH 2, SL ST, Repeat 4 more times.
Pull ring tight, when you turn flower to back side you will see you can chain into the back loops of the stitches you just made. If you find the single back loop of the CH 2 made on each end of the petal you can slip stitch into these to create your second row.
Row 2: SL ST into back loops in between petals close towards bottom of petals. CH 3, SL in between next set of petals, repeat 4 more times.
Row 3: SL ST to first chain created. CH 2, 2 DC, CH2, SL ST, SL ST into next chain. Repeat 4 more times.
Leave a long tail for sewing onto your project.
If you want a 3-layer flower repeat rows 2 and 3.
